Beyoncé Demands Justice for George Floyd, Urges Charges Against 3 Cops Who Witnessed His Killing

Beyoncé is lending her voice to the outcry against the death of George Floyd. On Friday night, Bey spoke out about his killing at the hands of Minneapolis cops and called for all the officers on the scene at his death to face charges. “We need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain," she said in an Instagram video. "If you’re white, black, brown, or anything in between, I’m sure you feel hopeless about the racism going on in America right now...We can no longer look away.” Addressing the arrest of cop Derek Chauvin, who killed Floyd after ramming his knee into Floyd's neck for several minutes, Beyoncé added, "Yes, someone’s been charged, but justice is far from being achieved. Please sign the petition and continue to pray for peace, compassion and healing for our country.” In the video's caption, she encouraged fans, "If you want to demand more charges brought on all those involved in the death of George Floyd, click the link in my bio to sign the petition." Her website also contains links to petitions by Change.org, Color of Change, We Can’t Breathe, and the NAACP.
