Lizzo, Billie Eilish & Lil Nas X Lead 2020 Grammy Nominees; Taylor Swift's "Lover" Snubbed for Album of the Year

  • The 2020 Grammy Award nominations were announced Wednesday morning, with three of 2019's breakout stars racking up the most nods. Rolling Stone reports that Lizzo received a pack-leading eight nominations, while both Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish walked away with six nods apiece. All three of them received nominations for Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist. For the second year in a row, five of the eight Album of the Year nominees are female solo artists or female-fronted acts, including Ariana Grande for Thank U, Next, Lana Del Rey for Norman F**king Rockwell and H.E.R. for I Used to Know Her. Bon Iver's i,i and Vampire Weekend's Father of the Bride round out the Album of the Year category. Among the biggest snubs, Taylor Swift's Lover was shut out of Album of the Year, although it is up for Best Pop Vocal Album. Lover's title track is also up for Song of the Year (which is awarded to songwriters) and Swift's single "You Need to Calm Down" is up for Best Pop Solo performance. The 2020 Grammy Awards, hosted by Alicia Keys, will air live from L.A.'s Staples Center on January 26 on CBS.
