L.A. Coroner Says Gunshot Wound to Torso Killed Rapper Pop Smoke

The cause of rapper Pop Smoke's death was a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the L.A. coroner's office. The Los Angeles Times reports that the 20-year-old rapper appears to have been the victim of a home invasion. Police responded to a call indicating that multiple people, including one with a handgun and mask, broke into the $2.5 million house he was staying in on Wednesday before sunrise. Four assailants fled from the house and have not yet been located. Police investigators believe that the rapper or someone he knew accidentally shared information about the property and posted an image containing the rental home's address on social media. L.A. residences rented by musicians have been targets of home invaders for some time, say investigators. A spokesman for Pop Smoke's label, Republic Records, said last week, "we are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of Pop Smoke. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together.”
