DJ Khaled Releases Video for Nipsey Hussle Collab "Higher"; Beyonce, JAY-Z Appear on Khaled's New Album

February 15, 2019
  • As promised, DJ Khaled has released "Higher," his collaboration with John Legend and the late Nipsey Hussle: The song appears on Khaled's new album, Father Of Asahd, which is out Friday. Legend contributes piano and a soulful vocal hook, as Hussle raps about his own life and family history. “Proud to be a part of this inspiring record with DJ Khaled and @NipseyHussle," Legend tweeted after "Higher" was released. "We lost him too soon.” Also on Friday, DJ Khaled dropped the song's video, which was filmed in Los Angeles not long before Hussle was killed. The late rapper features in the clip, as does Legend. DJ Khaled had previously said that the song's co-writers, producers and labels are donating all proceeds from the song to Hussle's children, Emani and Kross.
  • Khaled's new album, Father Of Asahd, is a star-studded affair full of cameos and collaborations. JAY-Z, Beyoncé and Future team up on the song "Top Off," while Khaled samples Outkast's "Ms. Jackson" on "Just Us," which prominently features SZA. Elsewhere, Cardi B and 21 Savage pair up for the tune "Wish Wish"; Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Big Sean combine for "Jealous"; and "Celebration" boasts both Travis Scott and Post Malone. Father Of Asahd is out on Friday.
