Rapper YG's Home Searched After Deputy-Involved Shooting
February 21, 2019
Rapper YG's home in the Los Angeles area was searched Thursday in connection to several shootings in Compton on July 3 in which 65-year-old Ricky Cornell Starks was shot and killed. It is still unclear if Starks was killed by police or someone else. YG, whose real name is Keenon Jackson, is not a suspect in the shooting and was not home when police searched the house, but is tied to the incident because an abandoned Escalade registered to him was involved in a firefight with police that night. Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman Marvin Crowder said several people were detained at YG's home, but were not arrested. YG said on Twitter “I was nowhere near the scene of this incident, I was in Hollywood recording in the studio all day." Crowder said there's “no concrete link” between Jackson and the shooting besides his vehicle.
